A look back at: Pokemon Sweet

Someone requested that I do a walkthrough of this hack while I was busy with Pokemon Nameless. Well, ask and you shall receive! Indeed, I saw this hack a while back and it certainly was intriguing, seeing familiar Pokemon sweet-ified, and even comes with its own type chart and everything! With all this said, this one does have quite a few shortcomings.

I'm in two minds about these battles. Nearly every trainer who has more than one in their team will be a double battle. So now there's a lot of strategy involved. With the new types, there's a lot to take in. Vanilla is a very boring type, no strengths or weaknesses, while Chocolate is weak to itself. The typings of the starters is strange. Squirtle, or Squirpie here, is Apple, but is weaker to Strawmander, the Strawberry type, which is weak to Brownisaur, the Cherry/Chocolate type, and so on and so forth. Orange is weak to all three, but is strong against Banana and Lemon, which counter each other. Lime is weak to both, good on Blueberry, which is good on Grape, which is good on Raspberry, which is good on the starter types. A lot to take in.

And then there's the matter of what you're more or less doing. It's basically a dessertified Kanto, much of the hallmarks are there, not TOO much in terms of HMs, thankfully. There's new music and old music, with Super Mario Kart and Earthbound being two of the games I can identify the music coming from in a few areas. There's Mark and Katia, along with the Blue-like rival, to create three. There's two enemy teams, but both end up being just gym leaders in the end. This chocolate Lopunny has created the world somehow, which is strange, but even stranger as the dark chocolate sister just wants to be bitter for whatever reason. Not being able to leave gyms unless you win or lose is interesting, but felt meh overall. The idea that humans are gluttons who just love to eat everything is something silly, and the whole thing feels silly. There's fun to be had in spades, but a lot of it is just silly sometimes. Still, a unique experience.
